Basketball Recap: Center Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Center lost against Silsbee back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Center Roughriders took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Silsbee Tigers.

Despite the loss, Center still got an impressive performance from Tim Johnson, who went 10 of 21 on his way to 27 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 22 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JaKevin(Tiki) Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Silsbee had a senior duo take command as Troy Rice dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards and Quinton Shoulders went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Shoulders a new career-high in points. Payton Jones was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Center's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4. As for Silsbee, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Center wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-45 loss against Almeta Crawford on the 27th. As for Silsbee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-40 defeat against Nederland on the 27th.
