Baseball Recap: Charlotte Comes Up Short

After flying high against D'Hanis last Tuesday, Charlotte came back down to earth. The Trojans fell 10-5 to the Falls City Beavers on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Beavers: they've now lost six in a row.

Landon Gonzales was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of William Barahona, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Falls City, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte will welcome Knippa at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crushers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.84 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Falls City, they will host Three Rivers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Beavers surely won't give up without a fight.
