Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Silverton's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Silverton got themselves on the board against Corvallis on Monday, but Corvallis never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 15-0 win. The Foxes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Mckenzee Petersen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Hannah Houts was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Zellee Herman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Silverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corvallis only posted an OBP of .143.

Silverton has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Corvallis, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
