Softball Recap: Kent-Meridian Comes Up Short

Kent-Meridian had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it 13. They came up short against the Decatur Golden Gators, falling 21-1. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly 20 runs.

As for Decatur, their record now sits at 5-3. Considering they have won four games by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Decatur's part, Jordin Prum made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Prum was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. She also put up a hit, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Hackney, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Audrey Deviney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Kent-Meridian will be playing at home against Auburn Mountainview at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Decatur, they will head out on the road to challenge Beamer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Golden Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
