Sherman is a perfect 3-0 against Riverside since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Sherman will head out on the road to square off against Riverside at 10:00 a.m.
Sherman can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Wednesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Umatilla.
Meanwhile, Riverside made easy work of Pilot Rock on Friday and carried off a 20-5 victory.
Cougar Philippi made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Philippi was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
In other pitching news, Landon Szasz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Riverside got a massive performance out of Chase Lantis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Roberto Lopez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pilot Rock only posted an OBP of .292.
Sherman took their win against Riverside in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 17-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sherman since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
