Basketball Recap: Union-Endicott Takes a Loss

Union-Endicott was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Johnson City Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 45-37 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Johnson City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aliya Hankey, who went 7 of 8 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds. Hankey continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Lombardini, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Union-Endicott's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Johnson City, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Union-Endicott has already played their next match (against Binghamton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Johnson City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-41 win against Maine-Endwell on the 25th.
