If River Valley was riding high fresh off their 73-36 takedown of Purchase Line last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers lost 69-43 to the Derry Trojans on Monday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Max Persichetti. Despite the final result, he shot 55% from the field en route to 17 points and three steals. Persichetti is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Mortimer, who posted seven points.

Stanley Rajkovich was nothing short of spectacular for Derry: he almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine rebounds. Parker Petrosky also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Derry, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

River Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-52 victory against Punxsutawney on the 30th. As for Derry, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-52 defeat against Indiana on the 30th.
