Basketball Recap: Marian Central Catholic Wins Going Away Against Kennedy

Marian Central Catholic won the last time they faced Kennedy and things went their way on Friday too. The Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes enjoyed a cozy 72-53 win over the Kennedy Crusaders.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Veon Sargent-Williams, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Those eight boards gave Sargent-Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Dahl, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

Marian Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Kennedy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Marian Central Catholic and Schaumburg Christian will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Marian Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Schaumburg Christian likes a good challenge. As for Kennedy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Aurora Central Catholic at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
