Basketball Recap: Gloucester County Christian Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

After losing to Atlantic Christian the last time they met, Gloucester County Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Gloucester County Christian Conquerors came out on top against the Atlantic Christian Cougars by a score of 37-26 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Conquerors have won by exactly 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gloucester County Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alanna Esposito, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Esposito a new career-high in points. Nina Mason was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Gloucester County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Sutton, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 boards. Sutton is becoming a predictor of Atlantic Christian's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 5-2 (and 4-9-1 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isabell Alford, who had four points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Gloucester County Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Atlantic Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11-1 record this season.

Gloucester County Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 40-26 win against King's Christian on the 27th. As for Atlantic Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 25-24 victory against The Pilgrim Academy on the 27th.
