Football Game Preview: Mitchell Bluejackets vs. Linton-Stockton Miners

The Mitchell Bluejackets will head out on the road to square off against the Linton-Stockton Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell will be strutting in after a win while Linton-Stockton will be coming in after a defeat.

Mitchell took a 28-point loss the last time they faced off against Perry Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bluejackets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Commodores on Friday, sneaking past 23-20. The Bluejackets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mitchell can attribute much of their success to Blake King, who gained 90 total yards and two touchdowns, and Kaden Mullis, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown. What's more, King racked up 69 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Mitchell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of King and Sven Lutchka.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Linton-Stockton's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Northview, falling 35-14. The Miners were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.

Mitchell will have to contain Paul Oliver as he made an impact in Linton-Stockton's last game. He rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 71 yards and one TD on only five passes.

Linton-Stockton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Mitchell, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
