Basketball Game Preview: Plains Cowboys vs. Sundown Roughnecks

The Plains Cowboys will head out to challenge the Sundown Roughnecks at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Plains is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Plains is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Smyer 39-36.

Meanwhile, Sundown came up short against Smyer on Tuesday and fell 65-53. While the Roughnecks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bobcats 14-4 in the first quarter.

Sundown has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Plains, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Everything went Plains' way against Sundown in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Plains made off with a 53-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plains since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
