Archbishop McCarthy got several good pitching performances, but Androckles Larsen was perhaps the best, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Larsen a new career-high.
At the plate, Danny Machado was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Juan Cerra, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Archbishop McCarthy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Pembroke Pines Charter rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Mustangs 10-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Jaguars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Pembroke Pines Charter's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dean Jaworski, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Archbishop McCarthy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.
