Baseball Recap: Brighton Takes a Loss

Brighton managed to slip by Covington the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cardinals lost 13-3 to the Chargers on Tuesday.

Hayden Delashmit made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Brighton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Jacob Townson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Brighton's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-10. As for Covington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Coming up, Brighton will be playing in front of their home fans against Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Covington, they will head out on the road to challenge Memphis Home Education Association at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
