Softball Game Preview: Johnsburg Skyhawks vs. Lakes Eagles

The Johnsburg Skyhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Lakes Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Johnsburg has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Johnsburg's win against Plano wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Skyhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Reapers 18-16. Considering the Skyhawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Lakes came up short against Lake Zurich on Friday and fell 14-10. The Eagles have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meah Christian and Aubrey Murray stepped up to the plate in a big way. Christian went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Murray went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Liv Tautges, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Johnsburg's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12. As for Lakes, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Johnsburg might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Lakes in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Skyhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
