Volleyball Game Preview: Plainview Pirates vs. Lutheran-Northeast Eagles

The Plainview Pirates will head out to square off against the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Plainview has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Plainview took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Crofton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates skirted past the Warriors 3-2.

Plainview wouldn't go down easily and took Crofton into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 20-25, 16-14.

Emma Sauser and Kenzie Doerr were among the main playmakers for Plainview as the former had 13 digs and two assists and the latter had 11 kills and ten digs. That's the most digs Doerr has posted over her last eight matchups.

Plainview was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lutheran-Northeast came into Thursday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Neligh-Oakdale 3-0 on Thursday. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lutheran-Northeast was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-4, 25-14, 25-15.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 8-15. As for Plainview, their record now sits at 13-5.

Plainview couldn't quite get it done against Lutheran-Northeast in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
