Preview: Fredericktown Black Cats vs. Ste. Genevieve Dragons
The Fredericktown Black Cats just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Ste. Genevieve Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Fredericktown suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Saxony Lutheran, falling 74-37. While losing is never fun, Fredericktown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Saxony Lutheran is ranked 115th).
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-35, which was the final score in Ste. Genevieve's tilt against Central on Thursday.
Fredericktown has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Ste. Genevieve, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Everything came up roses for Fredericktown against Ste. Genevieve in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 62-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fredericktown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
