Basketball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Clarksville Wildcats, falling 70-22. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Qimara Summers, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Summers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Clarksville was led to victory by Shakiah Vance and Malon Smith. Vance went 10-for-20 en route to 24 points along with six boards and six steals, while Smith almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Vance a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ally Howard, who put up seven points.

Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Clarksville, their victory bumped their record up to 20-1.

Looking ahead, it'll be Eastside v. Westside when Northeast and Northwest meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clarksville, they will venture away from home to take on Hopkinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clarksville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.
