Softball Recap: Herrin Gets the Win

While Herrin's victory against Frankfort wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Redbirds on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Redbirds: they've now won four in a row.

Madison Dickerson was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two doubles. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harley Summers, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Herrin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Herrin's win bumped their record up to 6-21. As for Frankfort, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Herrin will welcome DuQuoin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Frankfort, they are taking a road trip to square off against Vienna at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
