Softball Recap: Devine Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

Devine's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Somerset Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Warhorses: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in March, they had to take a 7-4 loss.

Tucker Traylor made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 9.2 innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits. Traylor was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Yaya Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddie Brown, who went 2-for-6 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Devine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Somerset, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Devine will face off against Jourdanton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians/Squaws will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Warhorses surely won't give up without a fight. As for Somerset, they will challenge Cotulla at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cowboys have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
