Basketball Game Preview: Shadyside Tigers vs. Union Local Jets

The Shadyside Tigers will take on the Union Local Jets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Shadyside: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Union Local has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Last Saturday, Shadyside was beaten by Monroe Central 68-32. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 765th, while the Seminoles are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, Union Local beat Buckeye Trail 58-47 on Saturday.

Union Local's win came from a few key players Shadyside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brandon Mehl, who posted 17 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Gregor, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Union Local has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Shadyside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
