Del Valle is 8-2 against Akins since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Del Valle Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Akins Eagles at 8:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Del Valle came up short against Westlake and fell 60-52. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Chaparrals are ranked 77th).

Meanwhile, Akins came up short against Lake Travis on Tuesday, falling 65-42. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Akins now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Del Valle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Del Valle didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Akins in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 65-61 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Valle since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
