Baseball Game Preview: Long Branch Green Wave vs. Asbury Park Bishops

For the second straight game, Long Branch will face off against Asbury Park. The Green Wave will challenge the Bishops at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Considering Long Branch has lost six straight at home (dating back to last season) and Asbury Park nine straight on the road (also dating back to last season), this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.

Long Branch is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over Asbury Park on Tuesday. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Bishops recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on David Jules, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Korey Castillo, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Jules wasn't the only one making solid contact: Long Branch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Asbury Park's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Long Branch, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
