Basketball Preview: Longview Christian vs. Heritage Christian Eagles
Longview Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Heritage Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Longview Christian was beaten by the Saints 62-30. Longview Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Heritage Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt a 72-35 loss at the hands of First Baptist. While losing is never fun, Heritage Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 988th, while the Saints are ranked 453rd).
Despite the loss, Heritage Christian had strong showings from Ali Orchard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Deanna Montgomery, who scored nine points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Orchard scored 15 or more points.
Longview Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Heritage Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Longview Christian might still be hurting after the 43-23 loss they got from the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January. Can Longview Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
