Basketball Recap: Elizabethton Takes a Loss

Elizabethton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tennessee Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Vikings are ranked 45th).

Tennessee was led to victory by Colin Brown and Reed Miller. Brown went 10 for 25 en route to 26 points and six steals, while Miller dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Miller a new career-high. Braden Howard was another key player, putting up ten points.

Elizabethton's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Tennessee, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.

Elizabethton will challenge Unicoi County at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tennessee, they will square off against David Crockett at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
