Baseball Recap: Centauri Takes a Loss

Centauri extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 8-7. They came up short against the Pagosa Springs Pirates, falling 17-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on Saturday.

Leland Chacon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Kingston Jaramillo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Pagosa Springs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

On Pagosa Springs' side, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Gonzalez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Gonzalez has become a key player for the Pirates: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aaron Sowle, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.

Looking ahead, Centauri will face off against Buena Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Demons' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pagosa Springs, they are taking a road trip to face off against Durango at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
