Basketball Recap: Walsh Comes Up Short

If Walsh was riding high fresh off their 51-23 takedown of Manzanola on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 40-37 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2025.

Despite the loss, Walsh still got an impressive performance from Ava Alley, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 15 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Averi Kunselman, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Sarah Elmore was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 34 points and ten boards for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Elmore has scored at least a third of the Patriots' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Gutierrez, who earned four points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Walsh's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Looking ahead, Walsh will take on Wiley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they have already played their next contest, a 50-5 win against Rolla on the 20th.
