Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Galena

Galena proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let the East Dubuque Warriors get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since April 11th.

The win (which was Galena's third in a row) raised their record to 7-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for East Dubuque, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galena will head out to take on River Ridge/Scales Mound at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for East Dubuque, they will take on Pearl City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
