Volleyball Game Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Tea Titans

The Mitchell Kernels will head out on the road to square off against the Tea Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mitchell is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Aberdeen Central just ended the team's seven-match winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Golden Eagles. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Kernels haven't been shut out since back in September.

While Mitchell was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-15, 25-21.

The losing side was boosted by Cassidy Korzan, who had four digs and four aces.

Tea hadn't beaten Madison on the road since October 15, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them last Monday. The Titans came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

While Tea might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Madison scored at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23.

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Tea, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-17.

Everything went Mitchell's way against Tea in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Mitchell made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kernels since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
