Republic proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past the Kickapoo Chiefs 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Republic was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (109-91), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 7-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12.

Reese Finley paced Republic's offense, picking up 11 kills. Finley also shared the team's lead in assists with Chloe Pullan: they picked up 19 each. Finley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Republic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10-1 record this season. As for Kickapoo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Republic will host Carthage at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kickapoo, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lebanon at 7:00 p.m.
