Softball Game Preview: St. John's Cadets vs. Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs

The St. John's Cadets will take on the Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. John's is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, St. John's was able to grind out a solid win over Elizabeth Seton, taking the game 7-4.

Chloe Armiger was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Yasmin Burrell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Devyn Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Georgetown Visitation Prep faced Sidwell Friends in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cubs fell just short of the Quakers by a score of 8-7. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Georgetown Visitation Prep now has a losing record of 4-5. As for St. John's, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

St. John's took their win against Georgetown Visitation Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cubs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
