Baseball Recap: Seymour Takes a Loss

Seymour and Evansville North squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Seymour had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 6-4.

Seymour handed starting duties to Braden Richey, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Richey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seymour saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Evansville North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Seymour does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Evansville North, they will challenge North Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
