Freedom is 7-1 against Brandon since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Freedom has four straight victories, Brandon has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Freedom needed a bit of extra time to put away Sumner. They skirted past the Stingrays 11-10. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Trent Strawser looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Devon Acord was excellent, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Keven Made was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Freedom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Brandon duked it out with Leto on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 8, 2025.
Brandon also got a good showing from Zach Philmon, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Brandon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicolas Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Freedom's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Brandon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Brandon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Freedom hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for Brandon, though, as they've only averaged .202. Will they be able to contain Freedom's hitters?
Freedom got the 'W' in their previous matchup last Thursday against Brandon by a conclusive 12-3 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
