Basketball Game Preview: Porter Ridge Pirates vs. Weddington Warriors

Two dominant guards in Ashanti Taylor and Caroline Clark are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Porter Ridge Pirates will welcome the Weddington Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Porter Ridge is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Marvin Ridge just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 70-51 to the Mavericks.

Meanwhile, Weddington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Nation Ford on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Weddington has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Porter Ridge, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4.

Porter Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Weddington in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-61 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Clark, who went 8 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and five rebounds.
