Baseball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jordan, Cardinal Gibbons was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sanderson Spartans a 15-0 shutout. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Graham Virag was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Andrew Riedel was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cardinal Gibbons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanderson only managed one.

Cardinal Gibbons' victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Sanderson, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Sanderson will face off against Green Level at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardinal Gibbons will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' contest: after the Spartans face off against the Gators, they'll take on Cardinal Gibbons again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
