Basketball Recap: Prairie View Academy Comes Up Short

Prairie View Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Academy Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-37 last Monday.

Despite the defeat, Prairie View Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Briley Lane went 9 for 17 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Allison Wilmore was another key player, putting up eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Prairie View Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Prairie View Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Franklin Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Prairie View Academy will square off against Porter's Chapel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin Academy, they will face off against River Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st.
