Basketball Recap: Legacy Lightning vs. Broomfield Eagles

After flying high against Silver Creek last Tuesday, Legacy came back down to earth. The Legacy Lightning fell 76-64 to the Broomfield Eagles on Friday. The Lightning were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Legacy still got an impressive performance from Matthew Allshouse, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 24 points along with six boards and four steals. Those 24 points gave Allshouse a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaedon Ward, who went 6-for-14 en route to 14 points.

Broomfield had a senior duo take command as Joey Cook went 9-for-12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds and Grant Schmidt went 7-for-9 to rack up 16 points and seven boards. Cook is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last seven games he's played. Jack Wadlington was another key player, putting up six points and 12 assists.

Legacy's record is now 13-8. As for Broomfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Legacy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-48 defeat against Holy Family on the 18th. As for Broomfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-68 victory against Mead on the 18th.
