Basketball Recap: Camden Bailey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Academy for Classical Education over Southwest

Academy for Classical Education was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 71-55 fall against the Southwest Patriots. If the Gryphons were looking for revenge after losing 64-45 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Academy for Classical Education's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camden Bailey, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Davis, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and seven boards.

Southwest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Dupree led the charge by going 9 for 21 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rinaldo Callaway, who went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points and eight boards.

Academy for Classical Education's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Southwest, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Academy for Classical Education wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-52 loss against Central on the 17th. As for Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 39-37 defeat against Bleckley County on the 17th.
