Softball Game Preview: East Columbus Gators vs. Rosewood Eagles

The East Columbus Gators will take on the Rosewood Eagles on Friday. East Columbus is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

East Columbus played against Rocky Mount Prep on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Rosewood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Weldon as they made off with a 17-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

McCandless St John made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). St John was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Vernon and Kodee Jensen did most of the damage at the plate: Vernon went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Jensen went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that Jensen has launched this season. Addyson McKeel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Rosewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Rosewood pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for East Columbus, their record is now 21-3.
