Palmetto is a perfect 10-0 against Ferguson since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Palmetto Panthers will welcome the Ferguson Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Palmetto hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Palmetto saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 11-1 to Westminster Christian.
Palmetto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alicia Thomason, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Another was Madeleine Baldwin, who scored a run and stole Two bases.
Meanwhile, everything went Ferguson's way against Miami Beach on Monday as Ferguson made off with a 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Lily Berardinelli spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February.
At the plate, Ferguson let Briana Canahuate and Amaya Santamaria run wild. Canahuate scored four runs and stole Six bases. while going 2-for-4, while Santamaria scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Santamaria has posted since back in April of 2024. Andreaneliz Rivera was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Ferguson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Ferguson's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Palmetto has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ferguson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Palmetto was able to grind out a solid victory over Ferguson in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 10-7. Does Palmetto have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ferguson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
