Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Cooper Carr and Leo Schoenberger Lead Baldwin to Victory

Baldwin won the last time they faced Tonganoxie and things went their way on Thursday too. The Baldwin Bulldogs strolled past the Tonganoxie Chieftains with points to spare, taking the game 57-40. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Chieftains are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Baldwin was led to victory by Leo Schoenberger and Cooper Carr. Schoenberger dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards, while Carr posted 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Schoenberger is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was August Boyle, who earned seven points.

The win made it two in a row for Baldwin and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for Tonganoxie, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season.

Baldwin will be playing at home against Bonner Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Tonganoxie, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-50 defeat against Turner on the 31st.
