Softball Game Preview: Ledyard Colonels vs. Old Lyme Wildcats

The Ledyard Colonels will face off against the Old Lyme Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Old Lyme took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ledyard, who comes in off a win.

Ledyard played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over East Lyme. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colonels.

Alexia Lemmon made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three doubles, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Faith Dalton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Cimino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples and two runs.

Ledyard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Old Lyme came up short against Stonington on Monday and fell 5-2.

Old Lyme's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Ledyard, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Ledyard got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2017 against Old Lyme by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Colonels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
