Football Game Preview: Pine Bush Bushmen vs. Middletown Middie Bears

The Pine Bush Bushmen will head out to challenge the Middletown Middie Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Pine Bush nor Middletown posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

On Friday, Pine Bush came up short against Valley Central and fell 14-6. The matchup marked the Bushmen's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Pine Bush might have lost, but man, Ruben Simpson Jr was a machine: he rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. Noah Schorling also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Monroe-Woodbury and fell 49-13. While losing is never fun, the Middie Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Crusaders are ranked 43rd).

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pine Bush, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Pine Bush was taken down by Middletown 35-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bushmen were down 28-0.
