Volleyball Recap: Mullen Mustangs vs. Thompson Valley Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mullen can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Thompson Valley Eagles on Saturday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2017.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-21.
Shelby Elms paced Mullen's offense, picking up 11 kills. Elms were helped by
Annemarie Stanga and
Annie Oncheta, who contributed ten assists each.
Adison Moore controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Tessa Vittorio was a one-man wrecking crew for Thompson Valley as she had 19 digs. Vittorio is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played.
Mullen's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-13. As for Thompson Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-1.
