Softball Game Preview: Holy Cross Lancers vs. Camden Catholic Fighting Irish

The Holy Cross Lancers will square off against the Camden Catholic Fighting Irish at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Holy Cross will be strutting in after a victory while Camden Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.

Holy Cross is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Glassboro 14-2 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lancers with their most commanding win of the season.

Jamie Dunn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayla Bullock, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alana McCormick, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Holy Cross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Camden Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-1 to Cherry Hill West.

Camden Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Holy Cross, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Holy Cross took their win against Camden Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
