Softball Game Preview: South View Tigers vs. Lumberton Pirates

The South View Tigers will head out to face off against the Lumberton Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South View will be strutting in after a victory while Lumberton will be coming in after a loss.

South View played against Douglas Byrd on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Last Wednesday, Lumberton didn't have quite enough to beat Hoke County and fell 5-4.

Norah Johnson put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jaelyn Hammond made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Maliyah Hardin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for South View, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

South View took their win against Lumberton in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
