Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for De Leon

De Leon entered their tilt with Meridian on Thursday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They had just enough and edged out the Meridian Yellowjackets 5-3.

Trenton Zmeskal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, De Leon let Adam Perez and Brenner Wright run wild. Perez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Wright scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, Perez posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

De Leon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, De Leon and Meridian will both be playing Non Varsity Opponent the next time they take the field. Meridian will host Non Varsity Opponent at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, while De Leon will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
