Baseball Recap: North Montgomery Starts Season with Win Against North Putnam

North Montgomery took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the North Putnam Cougars by a score of 7-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargin' Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Cade Cole made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Cole was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Crew Cole was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Tucker Hinds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

North Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Montgomery will head out to square off against Fountain Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Putnam, they will venture away from home to challenge Southmont at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
