Basketball Game Preview: O'Connor Eagles vs. Boulder Creek Jaguars

O'Connor hasn't had much luck against Boulder Creek recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The O'Connor Eagles will welcome the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Boulder Creek will be up against a hot O'Connor team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. O'Connor really took it to Mountain Ridge for the full four quarters, racking up an 87-58 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 107th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Boulder Creek unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 84-75 to Liberty. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (66), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

O'Connor will have to contain Andrew Bhesania as he made an impact in Boulder Creek's last game. He almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bhesania a new career-high in points. Mick Riordan was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points.

Even though they lost, Boulder Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only racked up 11 assists.

Boulder Creek's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-5. As for O'Connor, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
