Preview: Clarkston Angoras vs. Southwest DeKalb Panthers

Clarkston is 0-9-1 against Southwest DeKalb since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Clarkston Angoras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southwest DeKalb Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clarkston has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Southwest DeKalb will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Friday, Clarkston had to suffer through a rough 61-32 loss at the hands of Druid Hills. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clarkston in their matchups with Druid Hills: they've now lost nine in a row.

Clarkston's defeat came about despite a quality game from Arriana Blackwell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Blackwell scored a full 46.9% of Clarkston's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Westlake typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday Southwest DeKalb proved too difficult a challenge. Southwest DeKalb strolled past Westlake with points to spare, taking the game 60-43. The win was all the more spectacular given Southwest DeKalb's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Westlake is ranked tenth).

Clarkston bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Southwest DeKalb, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
