Softball Game Preview: Triway Titans vs. Tuslaw Mustangs

For the second straight game, Triway will face off against Tuslaw. The Titans will face off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Triway 3.5, Tuslaw 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Triway came up short against Tuslaw and fell 8-5. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Tuslaw's part, Gabby McGowen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 12 hits. McGowen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tuslaw let Hailey Carano and Hadley Porter run wild. Carano went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Porter went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Porter has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Adyson Nussbaum also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tuslaw lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Tuslaw's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Triway, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 12-3.
